Our Initiatives

Supporting the community

Our annual 5KforJK walk, held every fall near Columbus, OH, is a family-friendly event that brings together people living with Parkinson’s, their loved ones, and the broader community.

What started as a walk for one, our co-founder Jessica Krauser, has grown into a movement for many. Each year, 5KforJK raises over $100,000 to fund programs that truly change lives. Every dollar raised, every mile walked or run, moves us closer to a stronger, more hopeful future- for patients, caregivers, families, and communities living with PD.

Lace up, show up, and move with us at this year’s walk! Join us on Sunday, October 4. Register here today!

Providing tools for Parkinson’s patients and their support network

Our Parkinson’s Wish Kit was created for people diagnosed with PD and was designed with input from dozens of Parkinson’s patients on the items, info, and encouragement they wished they’d received when they were diagnosed and what they’ve learned since. The most important “item” in these kits for new Parkinson’s patients is the knowledge that they’re not isolated and alone – they’re now part of a larger PD community.

Making Parkinson’s focused exercise accessible to all

pDNextSteps started in 2015 with a goal to help provide fitness options for people who are diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Exercise has been one of the only things proven to slow the progression of Parkinson’s, and we’ve built a safe, welcoming environment that has become an integral part of our members’ daily routines.

Our pDNextSteps gym, in Dublin, OH, offers a safe environment for people who are diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. We also offer a Home Workout Series to meet the needs of those living with PD wherever they reside.

Changing

Parkinson's

Thanks so much for your show.  I've found nothing else that can help me get my thoughts together about managing my PD than this show. —Pat
I remember telling Melissa one time that I thought my Parkinson’s was too far advanced for exercise to help.  I couldn’t have been more wrong!  I attend her classes 5 days a week- these classes have been critical to my maintaining my independence!
After a year at PDNextSteps, I can honestly say it's been a game-changer. Joining was the most positive and impactful decision I've made since my diagnosis. I wholeheartedly recommend PDNextStep to anyone navigating the challenges of Parkinson's disease. It's more than just exercise; it's a lifeline.`
When I think of PD Next Steps, two words come to mind: community and gratitude. Being diagnosed with a chronic, degenerative neurological disorder was something I was not ready to accept. I attributed my hand tremors to drinking too much coffee and convinced myself that cutting back would resolve the issue. Needless to say, after a thorough medical exam, I was diagnosed with PD.
My Parkinson's First Steps kit arrived and when I opened it I knew there was someone out there who cared and understood!  It made me feel special. —Vonna
